Celebrating Fall - Corn!

It's corn - a big lump with knobz!    We are celebrating fall this entire month, and of course corn, pumpkins and leaves came to mind. I happily surpirsed at how successful the corn sensory bins have been! Some littles even began climbing inside the large bin for a full body experience.  Here's a list of the materials we used: -Wooden Scoops -Cracked Corn -Corn On The Cob Wild Bird Food -Handy Scoopers -Smal Pie Tins -Fresh corn on the cob. Now onto the photos: Exploring corn was a full sensory experience. From noticing the different textures between the dry corn and fresh corn, how it smells, and some kiddos even nibbled on the fresh corn! I can't blame them. I also enjoyed watching the children using their fine motor skills to pick off the kernels!

Dinosaurs!

This month, the theme for nature class has been "babies". Last week we spoke about animals that come out of eggs! We continued this conversation this week, with an animal that was alive a LONG TIME AGO and came from eggs....Dinosaurs!

Here are some of the activities I planned on the trails!

After some animal movements, (Dino stomp!) we headed on a hike for a Dinosaur Scavenger Hunt where dino's were hidden along the trail.

Next we stopped for some sensory bins. We had two choices: Dino Swamp, or land!

Dino Swamp was made using chia seeds, water and food color.
